Besides nail art, one of my major loves is cinema. I mean, if I had the choice of living at home or at the cinema, I wouldn't even need to think twice. I'd do my weekly food shop at the food and drinks counter and would just spend every night sat in front of the big screen instead of sitting at home watching Netflix.
So, it will come as no shock to you now how much I freaked out big time when I found some amazingly beautiful Hollywood Starlet water decals on She Sells Seashells. There was a choice of either Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn, but being the indecisive little thing I am, I couldn't pick and just bought both. At only £1.50 a piece, who could say no anyway?
These things are seriously ace, I absolutely love them. They remind me of a much classier version of those water transfer tattoos everyone used to stick all over themselves between the ages of about seven and twelve. One of the best things about these little creations is that they're super simple to apply. All you have to do is cut out the transfer you want to use, pop it in a small glass of water for twenty seconds, peel off the white plastic back and stick it onto whichever nail you want and Bob's your uncle!
They come in a small packet and have two of each decal, giving you the choice of really changing up the designs depending on which ones you choose. It also means that, providing you don't use one on each nail, they'll last for quite some time.
Of course, I couldn't wait to use these once they arrived and chose to use my homegirl Audrey first, being as I've always preferred her. I paired her My Fair Lady portrait with Rimmel's 60 Seconds 'Breakfast in Bed' (873), H&M's 'Cinnamon' polish and Nicole by OPI's 'That's Putting It Mild' (NI 444).
When it came to the Marilyn decals, I decided to pair them with a red rose design (Marilyn MonROSE, you see what I did there? ;D). I used my OPI 'All I Want For Christmas (Is OPI)' red polish for the index, pinky and base of the rose and then used Barry M's 'Matt White, 66' for the middle and ring finger. I also used the white, along with Rimmel's 60 Seconds 'Rose Libertine' (405) and Revlon's Colorstay 'Bonsai' (230), for the rose details and applied a red glitter over the top of the OPI just to give it an extra Marilyn-esque sparkle.
Having started out much preferring the Audrey Hepburn decals, I've ended up completely falling in love with the Marilyn ones. I've said before that red polish is probably my ultimate favourite colour for nails and Marilyn just screams red to me, which I guess is why I've ended up changing my mind about them once I've applied them and paired them with a design.
I'd honestly, whole-heartedly recommend these and will definitely be replacing them when I run out. They add such an amazing amount of detail to a mani that would be incredibly hard to achieve by hand, plus they're super cheap and easy to apply. 10/10 from me! :)
Have you guys tried water decals before? What's your take on them? Yay or nay?
