Instagram Mani Swap

Hey Nailistas!

So, I've been thinking of doing a mani swap for quite some time but just haven't got my backside into gear and asked anyone if they'd like to do one. A couple of weeks back, however, I spotted a post on Instagram from one of the amazing accounts I follow, elizabeths_nailart, asking whether anyone would like to buddy up and do a swap and took this as the perfect opportunity to finally do one.

For anyone that's not sure what a mani swap is, it's pretty self-explanatory. Two nail art enthusiasts each choose and recreate one of each other's designs. I was completely spoilt for choice when it came to picking one of elizabeths_nailart's designs and spent ages scrolling through her Instagram. I'm indecisive enough as it is, but when I'm faced with a ton of good choices, I'm seriously at my worst! After a lot of head scratching and endless scrolling, I finally picked a design to recreate:

It's adorable, isn't it? The decider for me was the gorgeous colour gradient on the ring and middle fingers. I just fell in love with it and probably would have, at some point, recreated this even if we weren't doing a mani swap. I've also just bought a white Barry M Nail Art Pen and have been desperate to try it out, so this mani was the perfect choice to let me try it out!

The great thing about this mani was that, even though it looks pretty intricate, it didn't take too long to complete. The hardest part was most definitely drawing on the white pattern with the pen. As great as the pen is, it was a little tricky to get the design to look the way I wanted it to.

The polishes I used for the mani are:

- Rimmel 60 Seconds: 415, Instyle Coral
- Rimmel 60 Seconds: 507, Round and Round in Circles
- Nicole By O.P.I's Oh That's Just Grape! (NI440)
- Plus the Barry M Nail Art Pen, of course!

My recreation has nothing on the original, but in the end I was pleased with how it turned out and have gotten quite a few compliments on the design since I've been wearing it!

Of course, the flip side of this was that elizabeths_nailart also recreated one of my designs! Here's what she came up with:

Stunning, right? She's taken a mani that I really loved doing myself and has made it even better and really put her own stamp on it!

I had so much fun doing this mani swap and am so thankful for elizabeths_nailart for buddying up with me, so be sure to check out her Instagram, because she really is so talented!

I've not got the mani swap bug and would love to do more in the future, so if any of you lovely people would like to do a swap with me, leave me a comment or contact me on any of my social media pages (links are on my Say Hey! page above!)
