A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely Emily who runs the Nailsxo blog, inviting me to take part in her World Cup nail art challenge, which I thought was an amazing idea! Emily worked hard to gather together participants and then selected at random a country for each participant to represent. We were all then set the task to create nail art based on the country we were paired with, with a prize to be given to both the person whose country goes on to win the World Cup as well as the one that produces the best nail art.
I was given Croatia and, I have to be completely honest, I wasn't quite sure how to best go about creating the design as Croatia isn't a country I know an awful lot about, other than its location and major cities.
For that reason, the logical design was the flag, but I didn't want to have the same design on each nail, but when I looked at the flag, I saw how intricate and pretty each individual part was and so I took parts from the flag and applied them to each nail.
I loved the red and white checkered crest in the centre of the flag, so I used that design on my middle finger with the help of some striping tape and I also loved the yellow stars, so I made sure to incorporate them in the design, as well as the blue and red stripes. In hindsight, I wish that I had done the checkered design in a little more detail, having more red and white squares, but the striping tape made them look sharp and straight, so I was pleased with that.
The polishes I used for this design were:
- Rimmel Lasting Finish - 030 Double Decker Red
- Rimmel Lastin Finish - 280 Sunshine
- Nail Paint by Barry M - 66 Matt White
- Nail Paint by Barry M - 306 Blueberry I/C
- Nail Paint by Barry M - 291 Cobalt Blue
So, there's my entry! I had so much fun taking part in this challenge and can't wait to see everyone else's! Be sure to check everybody's progress at www.nailsxo.com
