I can't lie, I've had a bit of writer's block this week. I've been umming and aahing over the past couple of days looking for blogspiration but have been failing at it harder than I failed maths.* It's only as I'm sitting here at 10:30pm on Friday night (gurl, my life is so #wild) that I've had an idea for a post pop into my head!
Having finished my third mani of the week within the last hour, I've only just realised that each one of the manis that I've been wearing this week have been inspired (because copied is such an ugly word) by other nail artists. Seems that I've also been having a creative block when it comes to designs too, but I'm going to turn that around and use my appalling lack of creativity to actually create a blog post. In your face, lack of literary enthusiasm!
The first mani I created this week was inspired by the YouTube Queen of Nail Art: Cutepolish (or Sandi, as it has recently been revealed). Ages and ages ago, back when I still didn't know what in god's name a striper was, I watched her create a city skyline nail design and completely fell in love with it. Of course, with my majorly minimal experience, I, again, truly failed at the design and vowed that once I got a little bit savvier with the techniques, I'd try it again. This week I finally did! The best part of the whole process was that Cutepolish herself retweeted my design! Totally wasn't expecting it, but was massively humbled! I feel like I've really achieved something and it's proven to me how far I've come and how much I've improved since I first watched that video.
Next up, riding on a wave of Cutepolish confidence, I tried out a geometric design that I saw one of my absolute favourite Instagrammer's, ane_li, post. Her's are obviously stunning, mine look like the ugly sisters. It ended up taking longer than I was thinking it would and as I'm not as talented as her, the finish just doesn't look as good. You can't win them all though, can you?
To round off the week, I've been having a good ol' stalk of wondrouslypolished's Instagram. This girl is seriously talented, I'm always in awe of her precision and creativity. She takes floral designs to the next level and so when I saw one of them that she posted from a few months ago, I couldn't take it anymore, I had to try it out for myself.
Obviously, my recreation is nowhere near as great as her original design, but I have to say, I just love this design. It's so summery and colourful, I can't stop ogling at my nails!
So, these are the people that have inspired me this week! Which nail artists inspire you guys?
Happy Weekend to all! :)
* Disclaimer: I didn't actually fail maths, I'm just not remotely mathematically gifted. Thank god for calculators!
