Monstrously Mini Halloween Nail Art Challenge

Hello all,

A few days ago I was contacted by the lovely Sara, who runs, telling me that she and Rachel (from The Imperfect 10) have created a mini nail art challenge for Halloween. Of course, I was all over it and couldn't wait to get started!

I've always really loved Halloween, I wish we celebrated it more over here in the UK. I've been across the pond in the States for a couple of Halloweens and, seriously, you guys go all out. The most 'Halloween' we ever get here are a few skeletons and pumpkins in windows and some boiled sweets and/or mints handed out to the kids that bother to go trick-or-treating, so getting involved in the nail art challenge has been a really fun way to get a bit more spooky and practice my painting techniques!

The challenge is mini in that it only has 7 themes, which is perfect for me as I work a lot of shifts and so I don't have the time to be doing a new mani every day for a month (as divine as that would be!). The categories that Sara and Rachel decided on were:

1- Favourite Scary Movie
2- Favourite Horror Story
3- Favourite Treat/Candy
4- Favourite Monster
5- Favourite Spooky Song
6- Favourite Creature
7- Favourite Creepy Setting

I'm still not sure what order I'll be posting these manis in, but I've started with the scary movie and favourite candy, because I was feeling inspired. I can't lie, I'm a total wimp when it comes to scary films, which is ridiculous being as I love Halloween, but one of the few scary movies that I love to death (aha, see what I did there?) is Psycho (the original, not the remake) by the formidable Alfred Hitchcock. That film is ridonkulously intense and really messes with your mind, which speaks volumes being as it was released in 1960. It might not have the gore of modern day horrors, but Norman Bates has got to be one of the absolute creepiest men to have ever existed, except for Robin Thicke...

If you couldn't tell from the initial picture, the favourite candy is candy corn inspired, obviously, and doesn't need much more of an explanation! I love that stuff!

Anyway, without further ado, I also give you the Psycho inspired mani to kick off this mini challenge! Be sure to keep coming back to my blog and check my Instagram and Twitter for more pictures of my other creeptacular creations over the next week! :)
