I know, it's been a while. Truthfully, I've not actually been gone, I've just been trying out YouTube and having a ton of fun over there, which I know is no excuse for blogging negligence, but there you go, however, today I'm feeling inspired. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a clothing company called Luxemme, who, very kindly, invited me to try and review their clothing. Yeah, seriously, I couldn't believe my luck either.
Luxemme is a small and upcoming clothing company based in my hometown of Manchester (North West reppin'!). Taking inspiration from both Manchester street style and Parisian classics, they pride themselves on selling luxury, staple pieces that won't break the bank. I mean, to say I was intrigued was an understatement. Any opportunity to get decent clothes without paying an arm and a leg is something that appeals to me greatly. Whilst I've never really thought to venture into the world of fashion and clothing reviews, I felt this was too good a chance to pass up and made an order with them.
Here's the thing with this company: they don't have the hugest range and their pieces sell out hella fast, but don't let that put you off. It's important to remember that the pieces they sell are staples, meaning that they don't actually need to sell a huge range of products in order for them to compete with some other clothing stores that sell a much wider variety of clothing, a lot of which you'll be shipping off to charity by time the following season rolls around. The pieces you can buy from them, which range from playsuits to jackets, are things you're likely to keep for a long time.
When it came to selecting a product to try, I made my decision in all of about 30 seconds of browsing their site. The Elson Sleeveless Jacket, I figured, would make for an absolutely beautiful piece to add to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Whilst the colour on the site looks a little more on the brown side, it's actually a wonderfully deep khaki colour. This was also a great choice for me as it's a one size fits all deal. I'm not going to lie and say I'm a petite size ten, so I'm particularly careful when it comes to ordering clothes online. A lot of Luxemme's clothing goes up to a UK size 14 and as someone who can be anything around that mark to the next size up (because I'm already a naturally curvy person that also happens like cakes and isn't ashamed to admit it), I wanted to play it safe and get something I knew would fit and flatter my size and shape.
If you excuse the fact that my camera isn't working at its best right now, you'll see that I obviously, I wasn't disappointed. The second I tried it on, I knew it'd go perfectly with a long black dress and boots. It's warm without being as stifling as a winter coat, so is perfect for the now-cooler evenings and falls long at the back so you can get away with wearing it with leggings if you prefer. The jacket is well-made and the order process was quick and easy. Within a matter of days I was wearing the jacket out and sashaying for my life.
All in all, Luxemme is definitely a company worth checking out if you're looking for items to take up permanent residence in your wardrobe (except for when you're wearing them, obvs!). When I'm next on the lookout for a treat, I'll not be leaving them out on my quest for material things that make me happy.
